WHAT OUR PUPPIES EAT!!

Why We Feed Raw

A simple guide for our puppy families

At Mi Best Doodle, nutrition is an important part of how we raise our puppies. We choose commercially prepared raw foods because they make it easier to provide animal-based protein in a convenient, portioned form while keeping nutrition consistent.

Potential Benefits of a Raw Diet

· High-quality animal protein: Protein and essential amino acids support lean muscle, growth, repair and everyday energy.

· Moisture-rich meals: Frozen raw foods naturally contain moisture, which can contribute to a dog’s daily water intake.

· Highly palatable: Many dogs enjoy the aroma and taste of meat-based raw foods, which can be helpful for selective eaters.

· Digestibility: Some owners find their dogs do well on highly digestible, meat-forward diets and notice smaller or firmer stools.

· Simple, whole-animal ingredients: Commercial raw formulas often use meat, organs and bone along with nutrients needed to make the recipe complete.

Important: Benefits vary by dog, and raw feeding is not the right choice for every household or every pet. Choose a food labeled complete and balanced for your dog’s life stage and discuss diet changes with your veterinarian.

Safe Raw-Food Handling

About Us

 · Keep frozen food frozen until you are ready to thaw it and follow the manufacturer’s thawing and storage directions.

· Wash hands with soap and water after handling raw food.

· Wash bowls, utensils, counters and any surfaces that contact raw food.

· Prevent cross-contamination with human food and kitchen surfaces.

· Discard food that has been left out longer than the manufacturer recommends.

· Use extra caution in homes with young children, older adults, pregnant people or anyone who is immunocompromised.

TRANSITIONING YOUR PUPPY FROM RAW FOOD

A gradual guide for changing to kibble, canned, fresh, or another complete puppy diet

Your puppy has been accustomed to a raw diet. If you choose to feed a different food after bringing your puppy home, we recommend making the change gradually rather than switching foods all at once. Sudden diet changes can contribute to loose stool, diarrhea, vomiting, decreased appetite, gas, or general digestive upset.

Before You Begin

· If possible, allow your puppy to settle into the new home before making unnecessary diet changes. Going home is already a major adjustment.

· Choose a food that is complete and balanced for growth/puppies and appropriate for your puppy’s expected adult size.

· Keep meal times and the total daily amount consistent. Follow the new food manufacturer’s feeding guidance and adjust for your puppy’s body condition and veterinary advice.

· Avoid introducing several new treats, chews, supplements, table foods, or proteins at the same time. This makes it much easier to identify what is causing digestive upset if it occurs.

Recommended 10-14 Day Transition

The percentages below refer to the portion of the meal made up of the current raw food versus the new food. Measure the appropriate daily amount of each food rather than assuming equal cup-for-cup or ounce-for-ounce calories.

Days   1–4

RAW - 75%         NEW FOOD - 25%

Days   5–8

RAW - 50%         NEW FOOD - 50%

Days   9–11

RAW - 25%         NEW FOOD - 75%

Days   12–14

RAW - 0%         NEW FOOD - 100%

Important: This guide provides general puppy-feeding information and is not a substitute for veterinary care. Individual puppies may need a different transition schedule based on health history, digestive sensitivity, or veterinary recommendations.
